Savannah 2012 E-Week Focuses on Energy
Conference Planned for February 22, 2012
SAVANNAH, Ga. (December 16, 2011) Architects and engineers from around Georgia will gather in Savannah for the annual E-Week Technical Training Conference planned for February 22, 2012. The theme of the conference, Focus on Energy, will include subject matter experts who will provide technical training targeted for architectural and engineering professionals.
Designed to provide industry insight related to engineering, entrepreneurship and leadership, conference presentations will be divided into three tracks: Federal Focus on Energy, featuring leaders from various federal agencies and branches of the military service; Energy Engineering Expertise, exploring new breakthroughs and the latest developments in energy reduction and Emerging Technologies, Products and Services, focusing on energy efficient products and applications. The conference will include the following informative presentations:
- General Overview of Net Energy
- Beyond LEED: Net Zero Energy Building
- Bridging Commercial Renewable Project Success and Future Energy Needs
- Increasing Sustainability of Existing Department of Defense Buildings
- Getting to Zero: Performance Data from a Net Zero Building
- Creating Renewable Energy Through Septage Disposal
- Cogeneration + Micro Grid: Roadmap to Energy Security and Sustainability
A highlight of the conference will be the presentation of the Connolly Award recognizing an eminent engineer for his/her outstanding involvement in civil, military or academic practices. The award is named in honor of James B. Connolly, a former Savannah District U.S. Army Corps of Engineer employee, veteran of the Spanish-American War, 1896 Olympic Gold Medalist and distinguished author. The recipient, a civilian or uniformed service engineer, will have demonstrated notable contributions to the field of engineering while bringing recognition to the city of Savannah.
This year’s Savannah E-Week Conference not only brings the latest energy developments to the local architect/engineering community, it also provides an inexpensive way to earn professional development hours.
”Registration costs are reduced to encourage attendance from our engineering and technology students,” said Joel Burke, a key coordinator for the event. “Our speakers are military leaders and specialized architect and engineering professionals -- experts in their field who come to Savannah with some truly fascinating topics.”
Held at the Armstrong Center, the annual conference is organized and supported by Georgia Tech-Savannah and the Savannah Chapter of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). A complete schedule and registration information is available at register at: http://www.savannaheweek.org.
